BBC website, a good discovery

When I read what we had to do this week as homework…to take a look of 30 minutes in the BBC website, I thought “no! This will be very boring!”, but for my surprise it wasn’t so… it was actually a very good experience. This page is an excellent tool to learn English… I have even seen how to say things in “business language”!! so now I’m a little closer to get a job in an english office hahaha Another thing that I’ve seen in this page is something like a history that is changing every week, it calls “ The Flatmates” and this week was a discussion about punctuality. It was short but very funny and I could hear how the english people really talks, I mean whit the real pronunciation and no the English with an south american accent that we are used to hear here. So it was a nice discovery and I’m sure I’ll visit this web site again, to here more talks and to see what happens in the next episode of “The Flatmates”!

A present for you

Here is a good option for all the people who like music and who are always searching for new bands or songs. Once I was listening to a song on the radio and I knew the band who played it, but I didn’t know the name of the song…I wanted so much to have it and hear it again!!...but how!!...I couldn’t sleep or think…so I began a hard search through the ciberworld and I have found my salvation!! The name of this website is “lastfm”. There you can find all that you need to know about your favorite bands, like the history, pictures, videos and you can also hear a little of all their tracks…so you can find the name of a song when you hear it…And a list automatically appears of bands who belong to the same style of music…it’s great! You can also see when and where this band has a concert and if you are registered as a user, you can have many more benefits!

A Victory City

This is another example of an utopia and it is always interesting to find new attempts to get a “perfect” city, but it has some good an bad things. If we look at all the services that this city presents, we can find most of the basic elements that we need in a place to live, like houses, an industry (where the people can find a job), some stores too, places for entertainment, green areas, a lake, a hospital, etc. As a good thing , we can see that this Victory city would be able to accommodate up to 332,000 people in just a small area and that is what we, as good urban planers, always try to do. Otherwise could have such a city the same problem as Santiago has, i mean an uncontrollable grow up of his area.
But this example has some bad things in his organization as well. The order of the streets are more difficult as they should be, the distance between the industry area an the flats area is too short and it has not enough vegetation, and there is no diversity in the apartments. So for me has this city no wealth, becouse it is too structurade, it has no surprises and it has no diversity and that are the elements who give life to any place.
